ShanghAI #2 - QClaw
Hey Lobsters, welcome to this 2nd edition of ShanghAI.
The goal of this weekly newsletter is to share my latest discoveries on Chinese AI models, and how I use their powerful abilities as well as their prices to scale businesses.
Each week, I will share you free tools examples that you can try to build by yourself and see if they can help your business grow.
Use these unknown models without living in China or speaking Chinese can be a tough task. Good news ? I am, and I can help you to reach them.
All of this, readable within 2 minutes, because I know you guys are busy.
Today, let’s talk about the "Little Red Lobster" that just went public: QClaw.
Implementation & Advisory Note: Looking to deploy this architecture internally? ShanghAI provides enterprise advisory, token audits, and turnkey private cloud deployments for DeepSeek, Qwen, and ByteDance stacks with zero data egress and GDPR compliance. Explore LeanAI Deployment Services.
DISCOVER
What is QClaw ?

While OpenClaw is the raw open-source engine used by developers, QClaw is the polished consumer "wrapper" officially launched by Tencent on March 20, 2026.
Technically, it functions as a Local Digital Assistant Agent. Unlike cloud-based chatbots, QClaw sits directly on your Windows or Mac file system.
It operates through a secure Gateway Server that allows messaging apps like WeChat (and soon others) to talk to your computer without exposing your IP address or local network.
The real breakthrough came in the March 27 update with the introduction of the Vision Layer. This allows the agent to capture "delta-frames" of your screen, meaning it doesn't just read text - it "sees" buttons, icons, and menu structures.
It can navigate legacy software that doesn't have an API by simply looking at the interface and clicking like a human would, effectively turning your entire OS into a programmable playground.
USE
The "Inbox Zero" Ghost Operator

You can leverage this technology right now to build an "Inbox Zero" Ghost Operator for less than $0.15 a day.
Imagine being at the gym and receiving a client request for a specific contract or project update.
Instead of rushing back to your desk, you simply send a voice note to your QClaw bot. The agent triggers a local DeepSeek V4 Lite reasoning chain (using the new Engram memory architecture) to search your local hard drive, identifies the correct PDF, and opens your desktop email client.
It then drafts the reply, attaches the file, and pings your phone to let you know the draft is ready in your Outlook for a final one-click approval.
By running the agent on your own hardware, you keep your sensitive business files private and bypass the expensive monthly subscriptions of Western tools.
ACCESS
The "No-Auth" Secret Weapon

The only thing stopping most people from using QClaw is the massive "China Wall" - the annoying Chinese phone number requirements, VPN lags, and broken setups that waste hours of your time.
I’ve spent the last days testing a specific workaround that lets you bypass the entire verification process and get the English interface running on your phone or laptop in under five minutes.
I’m sharing the "No-Phone" setup guide and my personal list of pre-configured automation shortcuts in next week’s edition.
Until next week,
The ShanghAI Guy
